The Tarota is a traditional tenor oboe (with conical inner bore) and fitted with double reed. It is the result from the evolution of the medieval “Xitimita”, well known in the Middle Ages in all Europe and today still used for Folk music and Traditional events in Catalonian areas. The presented Tarota models were invented and developed by the luthier Francesc Sans. The Tarota has an elegant and ceremonial sound and its tonality is deeper than the one of the Gralla. By tradition it is used in classical “Coblas” where also participate the Flabiol, the “Sac de gemecs” and Grallas. It is currently used in a variety of musical formations. Tuned DO. Instrument comes with soft case, neck and reed.
